Team's new jersey and logo unveiled

Dhaka Dynamites’ owner, officials and players expressed their assertiveness to defend the BPL title, stating that they are very much confident in their capability to retain the championship of the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). They all stated it at the unveiling ceremony of the team’s new logo and jersey for the fifth edition of the Twenty20 blockbuster tournament at a city hotel yesterday.

Shayan F Rahman, owner of Dhaka Dynamites, said that they want to retain the title of the BPL by maintaining the continuation of their past performance.

“We have recruited fantastic overseas players along with our local collection.

This year our foreign assortment is better more than the past. We’re very much confident in our ability to retain our title,” said Shayan F Rahman, who is also the Director of Beximco Group.


“We’ve created a world class team. We have professional coaching staffs. So, we are hopeful of defending our BPL title.

Shayan was accompanied with Dhaka Dynamites CEO Obeid R Nizam and its icon Shakib Al Hasan and manager-cum head coach Khaled Mahmud Sujon.

The gala launching programme was initiated with the welcome speech of Dynamites CEO, Obeid Nizam.

“Dhaka Dynamites started its journey in 2015 in ordinary fashion. But it radically shifted its voyage and then we won BPL title. We want to keep its continuation. For this I solicited all of your support,” Nizam said in his welcome speech.    

Defending champions formed their team with the blend of the local and impressive overseas recruitment what they purchased from players’ draft and out of draft from seven different countries.

Sri Lankan legendary wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar Sangakkara, Pakistan veteran all-rounder Shahid Afridi, Australian all-rounder Shane Watson, West Indies spin all-rounder Sunil Narine, Pakistan paceman Mohammad Amir will shine with bat and ball alongside youngster batsman Rovman Powell, batsman Asela Gunaratne, wicketkeeper-batsman Niroshan Dickwella, Zimbabwean all-rounder Graeme Cremer, bowler Ronsford Beaten, batsman Evin Lewis of West Indies, South African batsman Cameron Delport, bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi of Pakistan, all-rounder Kevon Cooper of West Indies, English batsman Joe Denley and bowler Akeal Hosein of Windies.

Of them, Sangakkara, Watson, Narine, Lewis and Cooper wishes the programme and Dhaka Dynamites’ progress with their video message.

It is learnt from the Dynamites insiders that the bulk of the foreign players will join the fortress of the defending champions towards the last week of the October.     

Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, Mehedi Maruf, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, Mohammad Shohid, Abu Haider Rony, Nadif Chowdhury, Jahurul Islam Omi, Saqlain Sojib, Sadman Islam Anik, Syed Khaled Ahmed and Noor Hossain are in Dynamites’ disposal.

Khaled Mahmud Sujon, team manager of Dhaka Dynamites said that the bench of the team has been stronger enough than the past.

“There will be pressure at any competitive game. We had good overseas players in the past edition but Andre Russell and Evin Lewis fell injured. We had no exact replacement for them,” said Khaled Mahmud.

We have formed the team keeping in that in mind. We have made a very strong bench this time around. For doing well, we have to keep the form from beginning to the end,” Sujon told media.

Shakib Al Hasan and Mosaddek Hossain Saikat among the Dynamites players were present on the occasion, wherein Shakib said that they have to focus on field performance which is more for winning the championship.

“Pressure will always be there. We have to focus to perform well in the field. Dhaka had good players in its initial journey but could not make it champions. This time we have a fantastic collection what we don’t see any other teams,” said Shakib, who recently adjudged one of the icon players for the three-day Dubai T20 Tournament to be held in the last quarter of the December.

“Field performance is the main factor for any success. The team has been better. Now we’ve to try how we could fare well. For this we should focus on our execution as per our game plan and try to showcase our best performance,” Shakib viewed.
